  1. Hi,do you know about how many GB it takes to stream about an hours worth of content? Satalite tv is our only option where we live (no cable here in the boonies) Att is the only wifi service that works here also. Is there any hope for us to cut the cord?

    • It all depends on the content being served. Many of the sites will use a variable bit rate and determine what your internet speed is and give you a lower quality stream so you can watch if your bandwidth is slow. This allows for streaming to many types of internet speeds and devices. Living in a remote area can be tough to cut the cord. You can try setting up a large over the air antenna and see what broadcast channels you can get. Here is an article I wrote explaining how to do it: http://www.overtheairdigitaltv.com/choosing-an-over-the-air-tv-antenna-for-free-hd-channels/. As far as internet, is DSL available in your area? DSL speeds are not the fastest, but in some cases it may work. Cellular wireless hubs can also work but they can be pricey and have bandwidth restrictions. Unfortunately there are not many practical solutions for cutting the cord in a rural area. You many have to wait for wireless internet to get better and for prices to drop. Or find a service provider that is willing to run fiber out to your location. Many satellite companies also offer internet speeds and costs vary. You can also see my article on How To Get An Internet Service Provider for Remote Locations here: http://www.overtheairdigitaltv.com/how-get-internet-service-provider-remote-locations/
